Building a Stronger Workplace Through Listening and Trust

At The Denver Hospice, we know that creating a strong organization starts with listening to the people who make our work possible every day.

This morning, The Denver Hospice hosted a meeting of our Employee Council, bringing together team members from across the organization and from a variety of roles. The council provides an opportunity for employees to share their perspectives, contribute ideas and have a voice in conversations that help shape the future of our organization.

Creating a Culture of Communication and Trust

The Employee Council is one of the ways we’re working to strengthen communication throughout The Denver Hospice. By bringing together employees with different roles, experiences and perspectives, the council creates space for thoughtful conversation and meaningful feedback.

Our goals are simple but important: to listen to our employees, support thoughtful strategic decision-making and continue building a workplace culture grounded in transparency and trust.

The perspectives shared through the council can help us better understand what’s working well, where there are opportunities to improve and how we can continue to grow together.

Listening to Our Employees

Perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of the Employee Council is hearing directly from team members about what their experience at The Denver Hospice means to them.

During the meeting, one council member shared a comment from a nurse that really stayed with us:

“The Denver Hospice has rescued me from nurse burnout.”

We love hearing this.

Healthcare can be demanding work, and caring for others begins with creating an environment where our own team members feel supported, valued and connected to one another and to our mission.

We strive to create a workplace focused on care and collaboration, where people can make a difference in the lives of our patients and families while also feeling that they are part of something meaningful.

Moving Forward Together

The Employee Council represents an important commitment to listening to our employees and making sure their voices are part of the conversations that shape The Denver Hospice.

We’re grateful to the team members who serve on the council and generously share their ideas, experiences and perspectives.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the Employee Council continues to help us listen, learn and grow — together.
