The Denver Hospice Welcomes Physician Leaders
DENVER, October 11, 2018 — The Denver Hospice is pleased to welcome Sheri Knepel, MD and Christopher Unrein, DO, to our organization as associate medical directors. They join a team dedicated to providing high quality, personalized care for people with a life-limiting illness or terminal diagnosis.

Dr. Knepel comes to The Denver Hospice from Ohio Health Hospice in Columbus, where she served as associate medical director. During her tenure, she also served as the lead physician for a team of 150 patients. Dr. Knepel is board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and in Emergency Medicine. She earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed her residency at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Unrein, a Denver native, joins The Denver Hospice from Brookdale Hospice in Denver where he served as the medical director. He is past president of the Colorado Medical Society and the Colorado Society of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Unrein has earned diplomate status in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine from both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University and completed his residency at Mountainside Hospice Montclair in New Jersey.
